چکیده

Abstract An accurate means of predicting erosion rates is essential to improve the predictive capability breach models. During growth, are often determined with empirical equations. The equations governed by range for which they have been validated and accuracy coefficients can be established. Most thereby do not account impact material texture, moisture content, compaction energy on rates. method presented in this paper acknowledges these parameters accounting process dilation during erosion. shows how, given high surface shear stresses, rate quantified applying principles soil mechanics. Key identify that stress balance situation dilatency induced inflow gives a maximum averaged resistance. effectiveness model indicated three validation test cases. A sensitivity analysis also provided show predictions lie within inaccuracy input parameters.

A Statistical Method for Sequential Images – Based Process Monitoring

Today, with the growth of technology, monitoring processes by the use of video and satellite sensors have been more expanded, due to their rich and valuable information. Recently, some researchers have used sequential images for image defect detection because a single image is not sufficient for process monitoring. In this paper, by adding the time dimension to the image-based process monitorin...

Predicting ε50 for Lateral Behavior of Piles in Marine Clay Using an Evolutionary Based Approach

Analyzing piles subjected to lateral loads significantly depends on soil resistance at any point along the pile as a function of pile deflection, known as p-y curve. On the other hand, the deformation characteristics of soil defined as “the soil strain at 50% of maximum deviatoric stress (ε50)” has considerable effect on the generated p-y curve. In this research, several models are proposed to ...

A Method for Analyzing and Predicting Reliability of BPEL Process

As an important means to compose independent services together to fulfill a function, service composition is widely applied in different applications. However, the process of composition is complex and error-prone, which makes a formal modeling and analysis method highly desirable. A BPEL process based on Petri net (BPEL-Net) model is presented in this paper, which is capable of capturing behav...

Evaluation of the bank stability and toe erosion model(BSTEM) for predicting lateral retreat oncomposite streambanks

Streambank erosion is known to be a major source of sediment in streams and rivers. The Bank Stability and Toe Erosion Model (BSTEM) was developed in order to predict streambank retreat due to both fluvial erosion and geotechnical failure. However, few, if any, model evaluations using long-term streambank retreat data have been performed. The objectives of this research were to (1) monitor long...

Predicting postfire erosion and mitigation effectiveness with a web-based probabilistic erosion model

The decision of where, when, and how to apply the most effective postfire erosion mitigation treatments requires land managers to assess the risk of damaging runoff and erosion events occurring after a fire. To meet this challenge, the Erosion Risk Management Tool (ERMiT) was developed. ERMiT is a web-based application that uses the Water Erosion Prediction Project (WEPP) technology to estimate...
